In partnership with World Vision, one of the leading charitable services in the world for over 50 years, Majic 95.5's Kim Stewart and Alex O'Neal will host Majic 95.5's "Community of Hope" on Tuesday, February 19th, from 6am-7pm. They will open up the phone lines at 6am, soliciting individual sponsorships for approximately 400 poverty stricken children in Umzimvubu, South Africa, Majic 95.5's adopted community. Think of this as an "Extreme Makeover", only for an entire village!
Kim Stewart will have spent a week in this remote village, and will be sharing her stories about the devastation she saw first hand. Listeners will also be able to sponsor children through the station's website, www.majic.com.
The minimal cost to sponsor a child - about $1 per day - provides many things to their sponsored child, but primarily sponsorship provides access to these four fundamental benefits:
1. Better nutrition and food security.
2. Clean drinking water.
3. Health Care.
4. Educational Opportunities.
In addition to these, the "Hope Children" receive additional benefits:
1. HIV/AIDS prevention training.
2. Additional staff care if the child is orphaned or abandoned.
3. Community based services for the care of HIV/AIDS sufferers.
Not sure about World Vision? We encourage you to investigate them just as we did. Log on to www.charitynavigator.org and do some research. What you'll find is a company committed to ending poverty with children, one child at a time. 86 cents of every dollar you donate goes directly to the child. The remaining 14 cents covers overhead expenses.
When you sponsor a child, you have the option of sponsoring a boy or a girl, and even their age. Maybe you'd like to sponsor a boy or girl the same age as one of your own children. It's a great way to teach your child about life in another country - and how important it is to help the poor.
Help us help an entire community. A community of hope.
